Gullfoss, Waterfall in Iceland
Gullfoss is a waterfall located in the canyon of the Hvítá river in southwest Iceland.
In the early 20th century, foreign investors wanted to harness Gullfoss for electricity, but plans were abandoned due to lack of funds.
Gullfoss is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Iceland and part of the Golden Circle tour.
The waterfall is open to visitors year-round and has facilities such as a visitor center and cafe.
Gullfoss means 'Golden Falls' and it's known for its spectacular double cascade.
