Christ the Redeemer is a colossal Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ atop the Corcovado mountain.
The statue was constructed between 1922 and 1931.
It is a symbol of Christianity across the world and an icon of Rio and Brazil.
Visitors can reach the statue by a steep road or by the Corcovado Rack Railway.
At 30 meters tall, not including its 8-meter pedestal, it is one of the world's largest Art Deco statues.
